Nickel Alloy Welding Consumables

Nickel Alloy Welding Wire & TIG Filler Rod

LYH Steel supplies nickel alloy welding wire and bare TIG filler rod for corrosion-resistant, high-temperature, dissimilar-metal, overlay and nickel-alloy fabrication.

Common AWS A5.14 classifications include ERNiCr-3, ERNiCrMo-3, ERNiCrMo-4, ERNiCrMo-10, ERNiCrCoMo-1, ERNiFeCr-2, ERNi-1 and ERNiCu-7. Material selection should follow the base metals, welding process, WPS/PQR, service environment and governing project specification.

Bare Wire / TIG Rod vs Covered Electrode

AWS A5.14 Bare Wire & Rod

Classifications beginning with ER, such as ERNiCrMo-3 or ERNi-1, are bare welding electrodes and rods used for processes such as GTAW and GMAW, subject to the applicable procedure.

This is the main product family for this page.

AWS A5.11 Covered Electrode

Classifications beginning with E, such as ENiCrMo-3 or ENi-1, are covered electrodes intended for shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).

They are listed later as a related consumable family.

Important: TIG filler rod should not be grouped with SMAW covered electrodes simply because both products may be called “welding rod” in informal purchasing language.

Current AWS Standards for Nickel Welding Consumables

Related Copper-Nickel Filler Metals

The original page also included ERCuNi and ECuNi. These should not be mixed into the core AWS A5.14 / A5.11 nickel-alloy tables.

ERCuNi

Bare copper-nickel welding rod / electrode classification used for Cu-Ni applications.

Review the applicable AWS copper-alloy filler-metal specification when purchasing.

ECuNi

Covered copper-nickel electrode classification for SMAW applications.

Treat it as a related Cu-Ni consumable, not as an ERNi-series nickel filler metal.

AWS currently separates copper / copper-alloy bare welding rods and electrodes into its own filler-metal specification family, rather than AWS A5.14 nickel-alloy classifications.
